Festive Beginners' Papercutting Workshop, Ely, Thu 17th November 2016

November 09, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Lois Cordelia leads this paper-cutting workshop, ideal for beginners, with an optional festive Winter and Christmas theme. The workshop begins with a brief but richly illustrated 'world tour': an introduction to diverse paper-cutting traditions from around the globe. Using a surgical scalpel and cutting mat, Lois will then demonstrate step-by-step the basic techniques of knife paper-cutting, before introducing a range of simple templates. Feel free to bring some of your own visual references, if you wish, or come along on the day and cut freestyle and be inspired by a wide range of cut-paper styles, motifs, designs, patterns and imagery from around the globe. This workshop is ideal for beginners, as for those who may have dabbled in paper-cutting and want some guidance. Paper-cutting can be a beautiful addition to other craft activities, including scrap-booking, card making and stencilling.
