Arabic Calligraphy Painted Shirt
(further images below)

Title: Arabic Calligraphy Painted Shirt (see further images below)
Medium: Fabric paints on linen shirt.
Dimensions: XL men's shirt size
Date: Spring 2009
Comments: I painted a linen shirt with a selection of lines from an Arabic poem by the poet Abu Firas al-Hamadani (932-968). The poem speaks of unrequited love, and was written from the poet's prison cell while he awaited execution.

N.B. I make no claims to being an Arabic calligrapher - it usually takes thirty years of daily practice to become a master calligrapher in Arabic!

A commission. In a private collection in Dundee, Scotland. Please contact me to commission similar work..
