Sketch drawn on
location, taking approx. one hour. The
district of central Oman (Bahla, Nizwa
and the surrounding villages) abounds in
traditional potteries, making clay and
earthenware vessels for domestic use as
well as for the growing tourist industry,
as seen here.
I spent five weeks in Oman in the role of
team Arabist with a group of
archaeologists from Birmingham
University, assisting their research by
interviewing local people about their
traditional ways of life, particularly in
relation to the traditional Omani
irrigation system, the so-called falaj.
Original
pen drawing: £30. Prints also available.
