Indian
actor and "king of Bollywood", Shah Rukh Khan (born 1965).
I first saw Shah Rukh Khan in the 1993
movie Chalte Chalte, and was
touched by his sensitive portrayal of
character through the most subtle
variations in facial expression. As one
Indian friend and fellow fan of Khan
remarked on seeing my portrait of him,
even the mouth alone would be enough to
identify its owner.
The colours of the background are
strongly associated with the Indian flag:
red (or orangey red), yellow
(representing white) and green. I was
also particularly pleased with the effect
of the touches of bright red in the eyes
and hair.
I am eternally grateful to my friend
Saima Zaidi, as well as many other Asian
friends, for introducing me to the
colourful, lively world of Hindi cinema,
with its infectious music and dance
scenes, outrageous cliches and totally
unbelievable storylines...! I love it!
;-) ... Long live Bollywood, and long
live its king! |
