Loosely
based on a black and white image of
American rapper, actor and poet, Tupac Shakur (1971-1996). In
this portrait I aimed to capture
something of the poignant irony of
Tupac's life, frequently touched by
violence and crime (hence the red streak
down the nose), and yet redeemed in the
eyes of many through the tender lyricism
of his poetry.
