This
tri-partite composition (waterfall,
bridge, and tree) features the following
lines of Arabic poetry by the Sufi mystic
poet Ibn 'Araby (1165-1240 AD):
Waterfall: "I believe in the
religion of Love"
Bridge: "whichever way its caravans
may go"
Tree + roots: "for Love is my
religion and my faith."
(Arabic: a-deen-u bi-deen il-hubb-i
an-na ta-waj-ja-hat ra-kaa-'i-bu-hu
fa-l-hubb-u deen-ee wa-ee-maan-ee)
Pictorial interpretation:
Love cascades like a waterfall from the
Eternal Source of all.
The 'caravans' of different spiritual
paths go to and fro.
Love is the root foundation of
humankind's creative and fruitful
activities.
