Comments: In deep meditation, the soul's fiery energies are increasingly transformed into sublime emanations. This is the fire that no longer burns, but heals with soul warmth and compassion. This image is inspired by Tibetan boddhisattva (literally "enlightened being") statues, depicting those who have escaped from the endless cycle of re-birth and yet returned to earthly life out of compassion for their fellow human beings. With the lithe curves of the body, I have tried to suggest the sinuous dance of a flame, while at the same time the precise, harmonious posture conveys serenity.

Original silhouette sold. In a private collection in London, England. Prints available. Please
