Chinese Fire Dragon

Title: Chinese Fire Dragon
Medium: Silhouette paper-cut in textured paper, mounted in "buckled paper" style on painted background. Cut by hand using a scalpel. Eye: metal press-stud.
Dimensions: Framed dimensions: 47 x 37 x 5 cm. Unframed: 35 x 25 x 2 cm.
Date: March 2008
Comments: Dragons are often associated with fire. They may symbolise the fiery energies of the earth, or of sexual force, or any potentially dangerous power that must be “tamed” (not “slain” as in many mythological tales). In this piece, I have therefore cramped the dragon into a confined space, and also buckled the paper of the silhouette to focus its energies further.

Original silhouette paper-cut (framed in deep frame display case): £180. Prints also available (as photo above, buckled, or below, flat). Please
contact me for further details.
