In the Book of Revelations, Christ the King is depicted in the majestic symbol of the
Lion of Judah, who prevails to open the Book of the Seven Seals through his courage and patience. This symbol is important to Rastafarians, who often capture the Lion spirit in their very appearance, wearing long manes of matted locks. The phrase 'The Lion of the Tribe of Judah [hath prevailed]' has also become the motto of the Ethiopian monarchs, and so is often attached to the name of the Emperor, as a mark of Ethiopian Orthodoxy. Hence, it is strongly associated with Emperor Haile Selassie I (crowned 1930), who has himself become a powerful symbol of the Rastafarian faith.

Colour/Black and white prints available (max. size A3). Please
