Inspired
by the mystical, devotional poetry of St
John of the Cross (12th Century Spanish
Christian mystic). The soul, personified
as a female figure, wanders alone along
the seashore, seeking God-filled
solitude. The elongation of the
figure suggests the yearning of the soul
for God.
Original silhouette paper-cut sold. In a
private collection in Ipswich, England.
