This landscape was loosely based on a photograph taken while on holiday in the Isle of Wight. Walking over the Tennyson Down on the western tip of the island, near the Tennyson Memorial, I was intrigued by the windswept trees that were bent over at an extraordinary angle of forty-five degrees. The painting was done as part of a live painting demonstration at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, during the Dorking Group of Artists Annual Autumn Exhibition 2012, taking less than one hour.
