Explore-a-book bench trail - Art trail of 10 BookBenches in King's Lynn, West Norfolk: 29th March - 7th June 2021. My design, 'Time to Sit and Reflect' celebrates the beauty of Nature and encourages us to sit quietly and notice the flora and fauna around us. This BookBench is located at Red Mount Chapel.
Nature is my favourite book. It's a wonderful colourful picture book, but equally it teaches us wisdom and patience. The shape of the BookBench suggested the idea of reflection: as above so below. I often use silhouettes in my artwork, inspired by my work in the unusual papercut medium and years of working as an artist assistant to children's book illustrator Jan Pienkowski. I was thrilled to be asked to submit a design for this trail in King's Lynn. Art trails are what we all need right now, to boost morale post-lockdown.
