Lois Cordelia taught a one-day workshop in cut-paper art at Linlithgow Burgh Halls, Linlithgow, Scotland, on 12th October 2013, to coincide with the West Lothian Council's current exhibition of Arabic and Islamic artworks and artefacts.

The tradition of paper cutting continues to thrive. In this session, you will learn more about this ageless craft which developed from the 6th Century across China and in European folk art. Combine the technical with the expressive and create an intricate cutting of your own design from a single sheet of paper. Use the blade to bring your drawings to life and release the finer points of your images. Feel free to bring drawings and geometric designs with you to the session or wait to be inspired by the exhibition on display and start from scratch on the day.

Above and below: Some of the stylish designs created by participants in the workshop.
