Lois Cordelia leads this paper-cutting workshop with a focus on lettering, script, writing and calligraphy, explaining some of the unique challenges of creating decorative and clearly legible text in the paper-cut medium. Using a surgical scalpel and cutting mat, Lois will demonstrate step-by-step the basic techniques of paper-cutting, before introducing a range of simple templates incorporating lettering.

Feel free to bring some of your own references, if you wish, or come along on the day and be inspired by a wide range of cut-paper styles, motifs, designs, patterns and imagery from around the globe. This workshop is ideal for beginners, as for those who may have dabbled in paper-cutting and want to take it to a more advanced level by focussing on lettering. Paper-cutting can be a beautiful addition to other craft activities, including scrap-booking, card making and stencilling.
